Ellen has worked on cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins in freshwater and estuarine ecosystems for over 15 years. Much of Ellen’s research has focused on the connection between freshwater and marine ecosystems to better understand cyanobacteria dynamics across the freshwater to marine continuum. The overall goal of Ellen’s research is to sustain the ecological integrity of fresh and estuarine ecosystems while protecting human users. Ellen currently serves on the National Harmful Algae Bloom Committee.
