Josh Tivin is a 2nd year PhD student at the University of Arkansas within the Cooperative Research Unit under the advisership of Dr. Daniel Magoulick. Josh received a BS in biology from Miami University, doing undergraduate research with Dr. Maria Gonzalez and Dr. Mike Vanni on the phenology of larval gizzard shad. In 2023, he received a MSc in aquatic resources with a concentration in aquatic biology from Texas State University where he worked with Dr. Tim Bonner to explore the roles of extreme flows on fish community and habitat structure of groundwater-dominated systems. Prior to joining university of Arkansas, Josh worked as a fish taxonomist for Amnis Opes Institute where he conducted the National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA) for the EPA. His dissertation research focus uses trait-based approaches to understand relationships between fish communities and environmental alteration across the Interior Highlands.
