Andrew Chu is an engineer at the City of Austin's Watershed Protection Department, where he uses hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, computer programming, statistics and machine learning to support stream monitoring, flood prediction and decision support systems across Austin's watersheds. Before joining the City of Austin, he worked as a water resources engineer on floodplain mapping, dam breach analysis and infrastructure projects across Texas. He holds a master's in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor's in civil engineering from the University of Florida.
