Abel Porras is originally from South Texas and has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is currently the section manager for the Data Analytics/Decision Support Section under the Strategy and Planning Office of the Austin Watershed Protection Department. He has 20+ years of experience in environmental modeling and statistical analysis. He is working on linking watershed models with biological responses in order to inform long term planning and strategy for the department. This includes developing a decision support system for the department to determine which interventions (projects, policies) to implement and where. In his spare time, he volunteers as a music reviewer/writer for community radio, KOOP.
